These are just a few dream/boredom color sketches I did while in Vienna this summer. A few are from life and most are spastic doodles from my head.
When I get stuck or feel a certain kind of need to make colors and the lack of motivation to work up a "finished" piece, I sit down and do one of these...they take like 10 minutes and they're just fun...no pressure. I mean, in the end they're not much...just some color notes for future reference, but my parents really like these smudgy little things so I thought maybe some of y'all might!
You can keep track of most of this little noodly stuff on my blog, if you like it: [link]

Wow, these are really quite beautiful. I love the one with the flying ship, the first one, and the circus tent. Your colors always inspire me!
Wow man, beautiful color palettes all around!
The circus tent reminds me of a dream I had once, a week or so after watching Cirque du Soleil's Quidam on DVD for the first time.

I'd joined the troupe, and the woman who does the contortions in silk act was showing me around. The German wheel guy eventually joined us. John Gilkey juggled.

It was kind of awesome.

:D glad to inspire! I just hopped over to your gallery...I really like your stuff! you're being watched :)
That's awesome! The circus one is particularly dear to me...it's a mix of a dream and vague childhood memories, I've been wanting to get down the color...I think eventually I'll do a full piece.
I have to say, I think the circus tent-esque one is my favorite, but they're all really nice! I see why you're parents like them :)

I love how every building's windows look so cozy. Best smudgy doodles ever!
Very nice, atmospheric little pieces. Great foundations for full paintings. My favorites down the left column would be 1, 5, 6, and 7. And on the right, 1, 2, and 4. Sometimes speedy little paintings can be the best, as Goro Fujita keeps on proving. I hope to see more of your full color speed-paints in the future.
Oh wow, I really aspire to choose colours like you do here. The golden light, blue shadows.. Anyway, it's awesome.
If you don't mind me asking... Did you do this in photoshop? What brushes do you use?

Run-on sentences deal with it.
Oh, please do. The colors on this smudgy little thumbnail are really rad - I'd love to see it taken to eleven. :D
